What else can I use the Ranges plug-in for?

The plug-in includes settings that allow unlimited variations of complex compound keys. It supports both standard US date formats and European date formats of DD/MM/YYYY. Click here for an example screen shot.

Using the plug-in with your distributed solution

The Ranges plug-in is useful in more ways than one. You can first use the plug-in to generate dynamic on-screen data such as that shown above. This allows users to have a quick overview of range based information. Yet another way to use the plug-in is by using the range it creates in conjunction with the default FileMaker Pro command Go To Related Records. The screen shown below is of the included Calendar file. This file is a ready-made solution for you to integrate directly into your own solutions.

Developer note: Typically you would hide the area to the right of the actual calendar.

This file can be used when generating range based reports. The Calendar file has already been fully integrated with the Ranges Plug-in and would need to be connected to your solution's files. This would allow users to select a starting and ending date and then go to the related records when printing a report.

Implementation of the Calendar file is up to you as the developer. The process can be accomplished in a short amount of time if you are familiar with relationships.
