Ranges Plug-in
for FileMaker Pro 4/5
The powerful Ranges Plug-in for FileMaker Pro uses a starting date and an ending date to generate a range of values between those two dates. The Ranges plug-in will generate number ranges as well.

Developer method

When developing using the plug-in it's possible to create a more permanent registration file so the External Version function does not have to be used when starting up the files using the plug-ins. This allows a developer to develop without having to worry about using a startup activation script while developing.

The Developer method uses a permanent file located within the FileMaker Pro folder. This file (only used for Troi plug-ins) can contain multiple registration strings for multiple Troi plug-ins. On Windows the name of the file is Troipay.txt and on the Macintosh the name of the file is Troi Payment Certificate. The file contains all of the registrations for the plug-ins you have registered. The email sent to you with registration information should have walked you through the process of creating this file.

The file is stored in the same folder as the FileMaker Pro Application. The following pictures provide examples.

Function Syntax & Parameters

The following is information about the syntax and parameters of the three functions found in the Ranges plug-in.

External ("Rang-Version", parameter) = used for checking and registering the plug-in

External ("Rang-CreateRange", parameter)
= the function which creates the range

External ("Rang-Options", parameter) = an optional function for setting various settings for the plug-in

Each of the above functions may receive one or multiple parameters delimited by the pipe "|" character. Common formatting of either SetField calculations results or calculation fields themselves use hard returns for code readability. The following example includes all of the possible settings for the Rang-CreateRange function.
